The project comprises two sites. The West Plant site was the original location of the mining and smelting activities of the historic Magma mine and is the focus of reclamation efforts.

Please note that the principal Magma Operations were north of town. Only one shaft was in the Oak Flat area. The ore from that operation was taken to the north of town for processing. All the tunnels were backfilled with waste rock that had been taken from the tunnels. Only the shaft remains which is filled with three billion gallons of contaminated water.
